Hello, FYI

I was in Austin (4/16) visiting and had lunch with Jose Alvarez, Elvia Garza and Sylvia Ponce De Leon. It was a so much fun. They look great! Today, 4/20 I had lunch with RoseMary Medel downtown and honestly I felt lost in downtown Houston!. She looks amazing!

I am a proud baby boomer and most if not all of us look damn good for our age. I have four sons and they refuse to go shopping with me. They fear girls will look at me as though I am their girl friend. Hey, if you look good, brag on yourself, thats all I have to say about that. Looking at the pics of the females from the class of 1976 "Hey some of these husbands need to step up, somebody is looking at your woman. LOL

You go girl! Just wondering; Wouldn't it be super kool to go on a weekend cruise from Galveston to Cancun as a JD group? We could probably get a fabulous rate for a large group, all inclusive!

Yolanda Pena and I both have kids in college.  My oldest is at UT in Austin and she's going through her commencements next month!  I was in Austin on Sunday and had made arrangements to meet Jose and his wife.  It was such a nice thing to do.  Elvia Garza lives in Austin, so I called her as well.  From time to time Elvia and I keep in touch.  She's as beautiful as she was when we were at JD.  Yolanda also joined us and we had an awesome time!  I must say that I'm so glad I went to our 30 year reunion.  It is because of that event that I have reconnected with so many of my childhood friends.  I am enjoying revisiting with my new found friends.  Also, I'm with Debra Williams...Debra Williams is beautiful, Yolanda Pena is beautiful, I am beautiful...we have to be so proud to look so great!

Do you remember the time when we made $1.35 per hour?

Do you remember these songs: Skin Tight, You are One In a Million, Never Can Say Good-Bye, Money Money Money?

Do you know when you first fell in love and the emotional feeling that came along with it?

What about the guy/girl you fell in love with and you believed that you/he was going to be together forever. Yeah, right! what in the hell happened. Common sense, reality, or you found someone else.

We got over it!!!!

Do you remember your first kiss, your first slow dance, and your first intimate thoughts?

Do you remember when we were all afraid to say the word "sex"? LOL

Do you remember Vietnam? Hey guys this war was going on while we were in school. I can not recall anybody talking about it.

Our class first voted in 1976. Who was running for President?

History Lesson: Davis is named after the 1st and only President of the Confederate States. He was a segregationist. Looking at the student body in 1976, no one would have guessed. I do not recall any racial problems at Davis.

Our class was part of the desegration movement that was sweeping the country in the 70's.  Most of us was zoned to Davis versus your home school. I should have went to Wheatley, but was told that I had to go to Davis.

Hello JD 76'

Debra I don't even remember some of those things. I do know my first love and we have both move on.  I really enjoy this site getting to talk and chat with people I haven't seen since 1976!

Can't wait for next reunion, I will do my best of making it.

Hey guys!  I think its great that a 35th reunion is in the works, and I plan to attend this one, who's idea was it to have one in 5 years??? as opposed to the 40th.  kudos to the person with this idea!!!!

Hi everyone!  Wow!  Its so great to hear all the comments see all the names and faces of great people I went to school with.  Debra's right.  Everyone looks fantastic!

I am excited about the 35 year reunion since I missed the last one.  I had planned to attend when my sister developed cancer and was dying so my time went into a more important direction as you all can imagine.  I haven't been to a reunion since our 10 year reunion.  I was married to Leonard Rodriguez (from Sam Houston..boooo!...lol) then and we won the prize for being married the longest.  We divorced 5 years later.

I then met the love of my life, Scott Hartman and married him about 6 years later.  I moved away from Houston to Austin and guess I couldn't be found until our last reunion when my sister got sick.  I cannot wait to see everyone and my hopes are to re-unite with some of you.

Helloooo everyone. Thanks Deboah. I got your message from Janice Harris. I was always wondering why I never heard about the class reunions. Until I talked to a couple of people from Davis (Arbrey Proctor and Janice Harris) .  Although we worked together, we worked in different areas at first.  I told them I know I was a quiet shy type, but I don't think they remember me. I didn't get invited to any of the reunions. But it's great to hear from everyone. This website is the greatest.

Jerillyn Hardin Gant

Hello Everyone,

This is Jerillyn - everyone now calls me Jerie.  I am so sad that I have missed all of the reunions and my brother, Rickie McCurty, missed them as well. Rickie went into the military and I married a military man; hence, we both moved out of the state of Texas.  Rickie is back in Houston, but I am still living in California.

As all of you know, I was pretty quiet in school, as well; but age has brought about a change in personality! I am truly looking forward to catching up with everyone.  Would someone please give me the exact dates for the reunion?  I understand that it is on Saturday, October 15th, but as I will be coming in from out of state, would prefer to come in a few days early.

Also, what is the code for the hotel in order to get the discounted rate?  I have not decided if I will stay with family or at the hotel.

Thanks.

Jerilyn when you call Crown Plaza state that you are with Jeff Davis Class of 1976. Made sure they give you the rate of 69.99 for double queen or single king bed.  Book your room early, word is out the PV is having a reunion the same week-end at the Crown Plaza.  I will mention to our web master to post the prices of the rooms on the web site.

Dear JDHS Class of '76, 35th Reunion Committee;

Wow, Wow, Wow!

What a wonderful time had by all at the Jefferson Davis Class of 1976, 35th Reunion!

As a past class officer, I think that I can speak for all of us in saying that we had a most enjoyable time Saturday night. For those who made Friday and/or Sunday events, I can imagine that they enjoyed them equally as well. It was great to see everyone in attendance, and partake in the candlelight memorial for those gone beyond.

The venue, music, decor were all just great! Memories of the '70's were in full blast. You had games, wonderful prizes and surprises for attendees as well. Debora's entertaining slideshow of photos had all the memories right there for review. Even the silver invitation, with our school song, is a keepsake. You planned well and it was a success.

Very importantly I'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the committee for putting this event together. It takes a lot of work, a lot of expense, a lot of time and dedication. You all, each and everyone, did a tremendous job; and cadets, you continue to get better with each reunion. Your class salutes you!

A thank you also for the support of the committee's spouses, family, and friends throughout the efforts of the team. We appreciate you all.

We look forward to coming together in another few years in a joyful, and familial spirit that only the years of school days gone by can bind.
May God bless each and everyone. Best regards until we meet again.

Sincerely,
Phyllis Nezart-Biggs
